Synopsis: After Grim’s resignation letter, Malcolm and Hakim conspire and figure out a new approach to taking down the Scott family.
Excerpt:
“Son of a llama!” Malcolm shouted out as he smashed Grim’s resignation letter onto his desk. “Did you see this coming?” He glared up at Hakim.
Hakim sat across from him smugly, his nose twitching ever so slightly. After Malcolm had come down on him for his plans failing, he felt vindicated seeing Malcolm’s own plan crash and burn. “No sir,” he lied with a pleasurable grin.
Malcolm scratched the inner corner of his eye as he sighed heavily. “Grim has been working with my family for generations. How could this possibly happen?” He fumed.
“Well — the Scott family is —“
“That was rhetorical, Hakim. I don’t need you spouting at the mouth about things you clearly don’t understand.”
Hakim cleared his throat as a look of annoyance jetted across his face. “With all due respect, Malcolm, I clearly do understand. Jarrett Scott played me too.”
“He’s obviously a mastermind,” Malcolm frowned. “There’s no other way to explain it. I underestimated him. That socially awkward persona he puts on is all just an act.”
Hakim shifted in his seat. “So what’s our next move? Trap him in a basement until he begs to be eaten by a cowplant?”
Malcolm cocked his head to the side. “Hmmm… that’s tempting,” he responded. “But no. If Jarrett Scott is the brains of the operation, we need to cut him off at the legs.”
