Jamie walked into the kitchen to find Caiden cooking dinner. “Will you pass me the salt?” he said. She picked it up and looked at it. “This salt?” Jamie said.
She shook it. “I don’t think anything is coming out.” Caiden smiled. “I’m not an expert in the kitchen or anything but I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to shake it over the food not the floor,” he teased.
Jamie laughed. “It’s been a long day,” she said before handing Caiden the salt.
As Caiden poured salt on the tomatoes, Jamie looked at him. “Are you sure you know what you’re doing? You warned me about what happened with your cheesy eyeballs for Jarrett’s wedding.”
“Ah! Cheesy eyeballs are a Jarrett speciality, my lady. One that only the cheesiest of sims can clearly master,” he paused. “I am making pasta. Spicy and playful…and hot. Just like me,” he joked.
“Woah. Hold up. You’re not a cheesy sim?” she mused. “Who did I move in with?!”
“Did I just move in with some super hot muscular hunk instead?”
“You sure did,” he said looking at her completely deadpan.
“Are you going to run for the hills now?” he teased.
“Not a chance,” she smiled.
Upstairs, Travitha woke up as the smell of pasta wafted upstairs.
As she yawned, she suddenly heard a sound.
“What is that?! Who’s there?” she looked at the floor in terror.
“Mommy? Did I do something wrong? Please don’t take me to that room…” she said.
She could’ve sworn she could see Summer trying to grab at her feet.
“Mommy? Please I don’t want to go down the ladder! Please don’t make me,” she yelled. She couldn’t shake the reoccurring nightmares. They felt so real.
Back in the kitchen, Caiden continued making the pasta as Jamie sat down to discuss Travitha.
“She pranked the toilet, Caiden. I don’t know what to do. I thought things were getting better. Will she always hate me?”
“Jamie, no. I don’t even think she hates you now. She’s just testing you.”
“But I don’t know what to do. I’m not a parent.“
“I’ve barely had parents.”
“Maybe we’re just completely in over our heads,” she said rubbing her forehead.
Caiden looked at her. He was worried too but he didn’t want her to know that. “Jamie, she’ll come around.”
As they kept talking, Travitha walked up behind Jamie.
“Travitha? Is that you?” Jamie tried to put on a smile.
“I don’t know… is there someone else it could be?” she grimaced still fearing Summer.
She walked into the kitchen, moping. “Do you want some pasta, Travitha?” Caiden asked.
He looked down at it. “Something is not quite right…”
Caiden took out two seasoning shakers at once. “Let’s give this a go, shall we?” he said as Travitha smiled. It was a little bit funny to watch.
“Was that a smile I saw, Travitha?” Caiden smiled.
Travitha instantly stopped. “No. I promise. I won’t smile like that again. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it… I’m so so sorry.”
“Are you telling me you won’t smile even if I bake you some cupcakes tomorrow?”
“Cupcakes?” she couldn’t help but grin again. “Please, never be afraid to smile, Travitha,” Caiden said. “You have a very sweet grin.”
Travitha smiled brightly. She was getting cupcakes and she wasn’t being yelled at for being happy? Maybe this place wasn’t so bad after all, she thought.
She was so used to Summer yelling at her and scaring her as a toddler, she didn’t know how to trust anyone… or even herself. Will they be able to help Travitha become a happier, healthier child? Keep following.

Synopsis

Caiden prepares their first family dinner at the loft while Jamie confesses her concerns about raising Travitha.

Did You Know?

  • I normally place the nightlight in any kids bedroom straight away to avoid the monster under the bed wake ups. However, in Travitha’s case, I felt it was vital for the story that she has nightmares due to the trauma that Summer caused her.
  • Travitha’s memories are repressed but they aren’t gone. She doesn’t know she’s reliving this age; however, she constantly has nightmares about her past life.
