The two of them arrived quickly at the hospital. “Where’s the doctor?” Jarrett said while they stood by the entrance.
“Meow! I’m right here,” she said with her cat ears on.
“Where’s another doctor?!” Jarrett started panicking.
Tomi looked back at the doctor and frowned. I hope that’s not MY doctor, she worried.
Inside, Jarrett walked up to the receptionist. “My wife Tomi Scott is checking in! She’s having our baby!” he said with a big ole grin plastered across his face.
“Congratulations! You’ll be with Dr. Bustamante,” she said. “But you can just call her Dr. Cat Ears. She’s been wearing those cat ears to work since she had my job… which was pretty recent.”
“Hello there, Tomi. How are you doing today? Everything feeling meow meow?” she said.
“Meow Meow?! Are you even a real doctor?”
“Relax. I find speaking in kitty tones helps me focus. Everything will be just fine. I’m a medical intern! It’s not like I’ve never not done this before.”
Oh god, Tomi thought.
Jarrett came rushing in. “Tomi are you okay?”
“She’s an intern Jarrett! Dr. Cat Ears is an INTERN!” she reiterated.
“Soft kitty, warm kitty…” she sang as she clicked the buttons.
“Ooops! Wrong button!” the intern said as she pulled out a heart instead. Tomi stared at it in shock.
And passed out.
“Tomi?!” Jarrett said standing there frozen.
Luckily, everything was okay and little Cheesy Scott, named after both Jarrett’s cheesy humor and his famous cheesy eyeballs, was born.
“Welcome to the world, Cheesy,” Tomi said. Jarrett stood behind her, dreaming of the day he and his son would make his famous cheesy eyeballs together.
Tomi gave Cheesy a tender kiss on the forehead. “I love you so much my darling,” she said.
Despite the terrifying labor with Dr. Cat Ears, the surge of endorphins made Tomi feel like she would be cheerful forever!
Jarrett snuggled Cheesy the second they got home.
As they went to sleep, Tomi received a phone call from her dad. Without any notice, they were coming over to stay with them for a while.
When they arrived, Tomi greeted her mom with a hug.
