Jamie stared at the cake worried. “Jamie, baby. We’ll figure this out,” Caiden said.
“I’m going to try again,” she said as she blew out the candles once more.
As the candles went out, Caiden threw confetti into the air. “I think it worked Jamie!” he shouted as she stepped away.
Suddenly she felt a swirl form around her. She smiled in relief. I’m getting my life back, she thought.
As the swirl ended, she stared in shock. “Caiden, do I look different? I feel different,” she said.
“I feel completely… and totally… free,” she smiled.
She rushed over to Caiden and kissed him on the cheek. “Thank you for being the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
The second Jamie arrived home, she adopted Travitha as a care dependent.
She knew they had a rocky road ahead of them but she also knew, there was nothing more important than giving Travitha a happy home.
“I’m adopting you, Travitha,” Jamie said.
“What difference does it make? We’re still stuck here,” she said turning her head away.
Don walked up beside them. “Hey kiddos! What’s up? Enjoying a stroll in the rain?”
“Oh my god,” Travitha sighed.
“What is it honey? Big sis giving you a hard time for not wearing a rain jacket or rain boots?”
She ignored him as he continued to smile at her. Jamie looked down, watching Travitha. “Dad, we need to talk,” she said.
“Okay, yeah,” he said pulling out his phone. “Let me just check on the score of the game.”
“Look at that… would you LOOK AT THAT? We’re winning!” he beamed as Jamie frowned beside him. If only he paid this much attention to us, she thought.
“Please Dad, this is important. Put the phone away. I really need to talk to you,” Jamie said.
“Look honey, if it’s about earlier and Chloe putting her clothes back on… I forgive you. She’s already back to walking around naked. Everything is okay!”
Great, that’s just great, Travitha winced.
“Let bygones be bygones right?”
“Dad, I’m adopting Jamie,” she blurted out.
“Actually, not adopting. I’ve already adopted her.”
“That’s impossible Jamie. You’re a teenager,” he said.
“Not anymore! Surprise! I aged myself up,” she smiled.
“I missed your birthday?” he frowned.
“You wanted to be there?” she stared at him in shock. “Why?”
“You’re my daughter,” he shrugged. “I’m your father…”
“I would’ve wanted to celebrate with you… I actually have a present I’ve been saving for you for this day.”
“Really? You have a present for me?” she said stunned. Don actually has a gift for Jamie? What do you think it could possibly be? Keep following.
