Annabelle sat by the door slipping on her shoes. The pain of everything Iggy did to her was still fresh on her mind. She looked at the stairs wishing he never went up with her.
How could I have done that. I knew… I knew how awful he had been to me. Why did I let him convince me that things would be different?
She shook her head as a tear dripped slowly down her cheek. I wish I had somebody to talk to about this. I wish I could talk to Caiden. He always used to be there for me, for everything… until I started dating Iggy and pushed him away. Would he be able to understand this? Or would he just be furious with me for being so stupid?
Annabelle stood up and headed towards the door. I can’t dwell on this. I need to talk to him.
She pulled out her phone and called Caiden. “Hey Caiden! I’ve been thinking… it’s been a while since we hung out! Just the two of us — can I come over?” she asked.
“Of course, Annabelle. You don’t ever need to ask,” Caiden said cheerfully. “Travitha is at school right now so this is a perfect time!”
Annabelle took a deep breath. “Great. I’ll see you soon,” she said trying to sound confident and happy.
