As Caiden walked upstairs to check out the bedroom, Jamie followed him from behind.
“I think I’m in way over my head, Caiden…we both are,” she paused as she closed the door behind her. “Are you sure you want to do this? Travitha is my responsibility and I would understand if you just turned around right now and didn’t want to help me raise her. I wouldn’t blame you.”
Caiden stood by the window, looking out at the city. He could see the Spice Festival across the street as the twinkling lights shined into their bedroom. “Jamie, I’m not going anywhere,” he said as he turned around.
“But why? She’s going to be a total terror,” Jamie looked at him feeling completely defeated.
“It’s easy. I know how much she means to you. She’s your family… which makes her my family,” Caiden looked at her reassuringly.
“But isn’t it —“ Jamie cut herself short.
“Isn’t it what?”
“Well… isn’t it hard for you considering she once tried to destroy your entire family.”
“First of all, I don’t even think of her as the same Travitha who did that. That was some manipulated Summer-bot who was too traumatized to think for herself. But secondly, I can’t even hate her for that,” Caiden said.
Jamie looked at him baffled. “How is that possible?”
“Because in my eyes, she didn’t destroy my family. She gave me a family.”
