Synopsis: Travis and Hannah receive a mysterious phone call threatening their family.

Excerpt:

Hannah and Travis were sitting outside in their backyard looking up at the stars together enjoying the silence around them. She rested her head against his shoulder as she took a relaxing breath.

“This is nice,” she whispered into his ear.

Travis pointed his hand up as a shooting star went by. “Wow! Would you look at that?”

“I missed it. I was a bit too busy looking at you,” she smiled.

Travis grinned back at her, his dimples rising on his cheeks. “How did we get so lucky?”

Hannah leaned back in her chair as Travis caressed her hand. “Because you were finally brave enough to make a move,” she teased.

“If I remember correctly, you’re the one who chased me down,” Travis playfully scoffed.

“Semantics,” Hannah waved her hand. “Either way, somehow we ended up here with this wonderfully large house, beautiful children, and grandchildren…”

“And maybe someday soon we can even sell this wonderful large house and get a cozy abode just for the two of us. You know if —“ Travis sighed.

“If Annabelle ever leaves?” Hannah laughed.

“You said it. I didn’t,” he winked.

“She’ll figure out her future just like the other kids have. Look how well they’re all doing. Jarrett has an amazing restaurant. Caiden has a huge ranch from all of his treasure hunting…and we were sure when he began his teen years he would be the one living with us until the day we died,” Hannah rolled her eyes. “What on earth did we know. We thought only a conventional career could bring our kids success.”

“It’s true. Caiden has really proved that theory wrong, hasn’t he?”

“And look at Carter and Casey! Carter is on his way to becoming a rockstar and Casey is thriving in college again.”

“Uh — well — I wouldn’t go that far but for the sake of optimism, okay. Sure,” Travis nodded.

“The point is, everyone is doing well on their own and I’m sure our baby girl will figure it all out too just like her siblings did. It’s just nice to be able to sit and relax. We can finally bask in the fact that there is no drama in the Scott family tree.”
