Crunch, crunch, crunch.

The leaves crumbled beneath her feet as Aubrie walked away from Casey and his haunted cabin.

She huffed as she glanced back to see if he was watching her walk away. Douche bag already went inside. Figures. I can’t believe I told him I’m pregnant and this is what he decided to do. Dump me. How will I ever be able to support our child? I can’t just rely on Malcolm and his Mobsters. I need something of my own. My own evil legacy that I can bring to greatness.

That’s right. Watch out Casey Scott, she said patting her stomach. Whether you like it or not, you’re tied to evil now and one day, our child will know what you did. How you ditched us. And he — or she — will have all of the resources to take you out. Mark my words. You haven’t seen the last of us Casey Scott.

Aubrie scooted her hand into her back pocket and slid out her phone. The bare metal felt cold and bracing against the palm of her hand. A chill of invigoration slithered across her bones as she pushed the phone against her ear.

“Hey,” her words bit into the phone as she approached her limo. “We need to talk. Actually, I need to fucking bitch.”

A woman spoke on the other end. “What happened?”

“Casey doesn’t want to start an evil empire with me.”

“What?!” The woman said flabbergasted. “You’re kidding me, right?! But it’s you. Does he not realize how successful it would be?”

Aubrie exhaled in annoyance. “It’s not even — he jumped on his stupid soap box and started saying he wanted to raise our lovechild as good. Like what even is that?! So left field. Of course, he said that after he already dumped me. The loser.”

“You’re kidding me? Evil is in your genetic line. Does he not understand that?”

“Apparently not. He’s just a douchey douche.”

“Such a douchey douche!”

Aubrie collected herself as she took another breath. “Okay. Madelyn. We’re not letting him get away with this. What if he tries to influence this child to be — oh god, I’m nauseous just thinking about it,” she gulped. “Good one day? He could get his hands on this baby just in time for its birthday and pick that horrific good trait. Or one of those even more disgusting ones like… like generous! We can’t have this! I can’t have this!” She could feel her stress levels rising.

“Aubrie. No. Don’t stress yourself out like this. It’s not good for you or the baby to think of such things.”

“But I’m scared, Maddie. The way he was talking… the things he was saying. I mean, he wants a child that’s good.”

“No, we’re not going to let him get away with that. I’m sure he knows that if he goes near that baby with his sorted plans that Malcolm will fry him in the fireplace room, right?”

“I guess.”

“So, good? He’ll stay away, I’m sure of it.”

“But I need more. I need him to know that I’m the most powerful evil influence on our child. So powerful that our child will want nothing to do with those creepy good traits. I need an empire of my own. Something I can pass on. A family legacy. We both know Malcolm will never let me run the Mob.”

“No — no. You’re right,” Madelyn sighed as she paused and considered ways to help her friend. “Oh my gosh!” She let out a sudden squeal. “Aubrieeeeee!”

“What?” Her eyebrows deepened.

“We should start our own diabolical group!”

Aubrie’s jaw dropped as she gasped. “Oh my god! We totally should! Yes!”

“We could cause mayhem all over town. Make it even better than Malcolm and the Mob.”

“We could steal stuff from those stupid community centers that are trying to become ‘better’ and ‘cleaner’. Throw trash everywhere we can. Our legacy will be making the world as gross and miserable as simaly possible!”

“Oh Aubrie, this is going to be SO good. Just wait until Casey is literally choking on the air he breaths. Then he’ll know who really has all of the power in this town.”

Aubrie giggled with joy as she opened the door to her limo. “Okay, Maddie. We’re doing this! Meet me at that Shipping Yard by the harbor. We’re going to bring this world to its knees.”

Aubrie hung up the phone and slid across the black leather seat. Her hand slowly drifted across her stomach. “That’s right baby. You’re going to be part of the most evil, the most diabolical, the most life changing —“ she paused as her eyes began to fill with tears. “Your momma is going to have the biggest evil empire in town. You’re going to be part of a legacy.”

Aubrie turned her head towards the window and gazed outside. A hopeful smile dashed across her ruby red lips. I’m going to change the world. Forever, she thought. And it’s all for you, she looked down at her stomach again as she happily sighed. I am such a good mom.
