A twist on Homeless Sims 4 Challenge, combine the rags-to-riches challenge with the house flipping challenge and build a better, eco friendly world!

I know what you’re thinking a homeless sim who house flips? How is that even possible? If you’re looking for a fun new The Sims 4 Challenge for your sim though, this will certainly fit the bill! Instead of rags to riches, it’s the eco-friendly rags to a better world… and you may just get rich in the process too!

Here’s a Little Secret…

I personally thought the Eco Lifestyle pack was going to be boring. So much so, that it took me months to get it. In the end, I regretted not getting it sooner because when I did this challenge, I had an epic amount of fun!

The ultimate goal of this challenge is to better the world and turn the neighborhoods green. Your sim will get to live homeless (my sim did it by choice!), craft their own home, and eventually flip homes for cash, while spending very little money to do so!

The Homeless Sims 4 Challenge in Evergreen Harbor form Eco Lifestyle.
Sims 4 Homeless Challenge in Evergreen Harbor

Setting Your Sim Up

  1. Bulldoze a lot in the polluted part of Evergreen Harbor and make the lot off the grid.
  2. Move your sim in. Buy a tent, a campfire, and a bush. If you want to make the challenge slightly easier, you can also get a cooler to eat quick foods from. To keep it challenging, forgo the cooler and find food through gardening, fishing, and dumpster diving.
  3. If you want, place a dumpster of your very own the lot! Or, just visit the local dumpsters instead for an extra challenge.
  4. Cheat their household funds to $0. (The sims 4 household funds cheat is as follows: Activate the cheat bar. Type “testingcheats true”, then type “money 0”)
  5. Your sim is NOT allowed to get a job, however, they can be a university student or a teenager in high school with non-paying extra curricular activities, such as drama club or scouts!

  2. Pee in the bush
  3. Learn to garden (and hope your sim actually finds it fun)
  4. Dumpster dive for food, find plants to forage, or go fishing and cook fish at the fire pit.

How to Build a House, Without a Jobless in the Homeless House Flipper Sims 4 Challenge

With this challenge, you’re ultimate goal is to eventually build your own eco friendly house! But how do you go from rags-to-riches or homeless-to-house flipper? Here are all of the tips you need to make it possible!

Crafting Your Own Objects in The Sims 4

After moving to your vacant lot and gaining some influence points, visit the local community space and vote for it to become a Maker Space. This will help you out a lot as you proceed through this challenge!

Next, find the nearest dumpster and start diving and collecting! Visit the local community space and use the recycling machine to turn your finds into scraps.

Dumpster Rule: You cannot sell any objects found in the dumpster. You can either keep these objects to eventually use for decorating, OR turn them into scraps.

Once the Community Space has become a Maker Space, begin using the fabricator to create your own objects. Fabricated objects can be sold for money. You can also add a wood working table and create your own objects on their as well. Wood crafted objects can also be sold for money.

Other items you can craft and sell, include artwork on the easel, cross stitches, and knitted items. Anything your sim creates is fair game! Remember though, this is not a get rich scheme. Your focus isn’t on making millions from a level 10 paint skill. You won’t be making much money on your creations right now, and that’s exactly what you want. You want to make just enough money to built your tiny home.

Once You’re Making Money…How Do You Build a Home in The Sims 4 Homeless House Flipper Challenge?

Once you have enough money from selling your crafts, you can begin building your tiny, unfurnished, home. All wall and flooring materials must be eco friendly.

  • To furnish your home, craft objects on the fabricator and wood working table! You can also decorate with your own paintings, knitted objects, and cross-stitches.
  • When you reach level 9 & 10 of the handiness skill, your sim can craft both a bath tub and a toilet on the wood working table!
  • Other furniture items can include anything you’ve found in a dumpster…as long as it’s eco-friendly and works off the grid, of course. If it’s neither of those things, turn it into scrap! If the items don’t fit in this house, put them in your household inventory and save them for a future home!

Once your house has been fully furnished, with any extra money you may have, you can add solar panels, win turbines, water tanks, etc. to the lot to make it eco friendly.

If the house is complete and the lot has a green footprint, it’s time to flip the house! Pack up your tent and your fire pit. It’s time to head out to your next mission!

Flipping Your House and Moving On to Another Home

Cherish Huntington’s Very First Tiny Home House, from the Homeless House Flipper Sims 4 Challenge, furnished entirely with homemade and eco friendly objects.

Once you have sold your house, buy a new lot (and be sure to bulldoze it again!). Thanks to crafting your own objects and barely spending a dime on your last house, you’ll have made a nice profit from your very first house flip! With the money you have, you can start building another green home right away.

The second home can be larger than the tiny home you just made, if you can afford it of course. You can either work your way up in tiny home tiers for an extra challenge, or do a normal residential home this time. The choice is yours!

Cherish Huntington’s second Tiny Home, from the Homeless House Flipper Sims 4 Challenge, furnished with eco friendly, and primarily, homemade objects.

Remember, even though you can build a bigger house, you still must decorate primarily with only items you have built or eco-friendly items you have collected from the dumpster.

With each property, you can build larger homes with the money you’ve made from flipping the previous house! The goal is to keep creating green homes and flipping them until you have made all of the neighborhoods green.

As you make each property larger, you will flip them for more money. The items your sim is crafting will also improve as their skill rises, making the value of your property higher as well!

The sim I did this challenge with went from homeless to an idyllic countryside home where she decided to move onto her next challenge (more on that later), after flipping three homes!

The Sim Behind the Homeless House Flipper Sims 4 Challenge

The Story of My Homeless Sim: Cherish Huntington

Cherish’s Childhood

Mandy Huntington, a struggling actress and nectar addict in The Sims 4.
Mandy Huntington, struggling actress and nectar addict

My sim Cherish had an interesting backstory. She was the 10th generation of my legacy family. Her mom was a raging nectar addict and for a long time, a struggling actress. As her mom built her dream home little by little with each paycheck, she built a gorgeous mansion…for herself. Selfish and completely in her own world, she only made her state-of-the-art home one bedroom, despite having her daughter, Cherish.

Cherish spent her nights as a toddler sleeping on an ottoman in the walk-in closet (and eventually a toddler bed that her mom smooshed into the space). One day, her mom made the most selfless decision she could make: she gave Cherish up and sent her to live with her three uncles. The complete opposite of her mom, her uncles took care of Cherish and raised her into a wonderful sim. She never wanted material things like her mom. All she wanted was a simple life… and to better the world!

Cherish’s Young Adult Life

Even though she came from a family line with plenty of money, she graduated college and moved to Evergreen Harbor. She chose to forgo the trust fund from her uncles and live homeless and dumpster dive while on a mission to turn the world green. While her Uncle Luke was concerned for her well being, Cherish loved sleeping in a tent and dumpster diving. Eventually, her efforts paid off and she built a tiny eco friendly home.

Cherish’s uncle Luke watched solemnly while his niece, who gave up her trust fund, dumpster dove.

After flipping two more homes, she decided to move onto the next chapter of her life. With the money she made from flipping homes, Cherish bought a home in the countryside of Henford-on-Bagley. Still determined to never give into a world of materialism like her mom, she began a farm. With high gardening and fishing skills due to her homeless days, Cherish was able to grow a lot of quality crops and catch fantastic fish. Eventually, she decided to turn her skills into a new career path: she opened the retail shop, Cherish Grocery Store. But that’s a story for another time!
