Jamie turned from side to side in bed as the beige bedsheets twisted around her. Her mind was racing as she thought about how they would tell Travitha.
Would she understand? Maybe she’d be grateful. After all, it’s not like there was any love lost between Summer and Travitha. Summer was horrible to her. But then again, she was still her mother. Would she feel betrayed that they kept this a secret from her? Would she be angry?
Jamie ran her hand through her hair, trying to calm herself. Don’t panic, she thought as she breathed heavily.
Caiden scooted beside her in bed and wrapped his arm around her. As he pulled her body against his, he whispered into her ear.
“I can feel you worrying. You don’t have to. I promise. It will all be okay.” His breath tickled her neck as he spoke.
“I’m sorry. Did I wake you with all of my tossing and turning? I didn’t mean to,” Jamie whispered back.
Caiden scrunched the bottom of her silky light blue slip in his hand, pulling her tighter as he comforted her. “I don’t mind,” he spoke softly. “Now turn off that busy brain of yours and get some sleep. I promise you, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.”
Jamie pressed herself back into Caiden as his hand gently brushed against her arm. “She’s going to hate us.”
