Jarrett sat at the table watching as his mom and Tomi attempted to make his beloved cheesy eyeball recipe for Harvestfest.
“Alright… I think this is the cheese he uses?” Tomi said as she pulled a bag out of the refrigerator.
Hannah winked at her. “Most definitely!”
They both knew it wasn’t the right one but they were determined to coax Jarrett into participating after all.
I see what they’re trying to do there, Jarrett thought with a slight smile. I just wish I wasn’t so burnt out and tired.
Jarrett sighed. He couldn’t remember the last time he truly felt relaxed or happy. Why did I end up being a robot engineer? he contemplated.
As he watched Tomi and Hannah take out all of the wrong ingredients, he reflected on his past…
It was a cold day in Newcrest but that didn’t stop Jarrett from feeling all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
“Jarrett, my son! It’s Harvestfest today and do you know what that means now that you’re a child?” Travis asked him as they stood together in the kitchen.
Jarrett looked up at his dad in admiration. “What Dad?”
