Don greeted him rudely. “You here to hit on my fiancé man? Because you can get lost.”
“No, Don. She’s my best friend. I just came to check on her,” Travis said. “And that’s all you’ll ever be. After all, why would she possibly ever want you, when she’s got me?” Don snarked.
Why is she marrying this scumball, Travis muttered to himself.
“You know what, DON? Maybe I do love her. Maybe I want nothing more than to be with her. And so what? You are not good enough for her. You will never be good enough for her,” Travis said. Don pranced his hips from side to side making fun of Travis, “Oh computer boy is in love with my girl. Should I be scared now?”
I really hate this guy, Travis thought.
“She’s mine,” Don grimaced.
“Look Don, she’s yours. She’s decided for whatever reason, that she loves you. And all I want is for her to be happy. I’m not going to get in the way of what she wants. Just don’t break her heart.” Travis said.
Don looked down at Travis’s hand. “Woah woah woah. Is that MY clay man? Did you steal it from me?!?”
Travis shot his hand up, “I don’t know what your deal is with clay dude, but, calm down. This is mine. I brought it from home.”
“You need to get out of my face man and stay away from my fiancé.”
“You wanna go?” Travis said. “Let’s go.”
They broke out into a fight on the front lawn.
Buttercup howled and cheered Travis on.
Unfortunately, Don was stronger than Travis and Buttercup was disappointed.
“I’ll see you at the wedding, ‘Travis’,” Don said pointedly.
“And you better believe that’s the last time you’ll ever see Hannah. Now get off our lawn before she comes home.”
“This isn’t over,” Travis glared.
After Travis left and Hannah arrived home, the doorbell rang. It was Geoffrey Landgraab!
Hannah answered the door and Geoffrey walked in and sat down, making himself at home. “I am getting married, Geoffrey. What on earth do you want?”
“I miss you Hannah. I’m in love with you.”
“Are you in love with me?”
“Aren’t you still married?!”
“I mean, yeah, I guess.”
“But Hannah, we could fly away together! Nancy and the mob would never find us. I promise!”
Hannah got up. “I don’t like you. I certainly don’t love you. And you need to leave.” As she kicked him out, her phone rang.
Marcus, her ex-husband had died in an electrical repair accident.
Even though things didn’t end well with Marcus, she suddenly felt very sad.
She may have hated him, but she certainly didn’t wish him dead. She regretted how she blew him off when he called during her holiday party. If only she hadn’t been so mean to him.
She cried and cried in bed.
When she told Don, he put his arms on her. “Cheer up babe, you’ve got me.”
Shockingly, his words didn’t help. As she sat on the couch crying, Travis called. She answered, trying to hold back tears but he could hear something was very wrong. He asked her to come over.
When she arrived, she told him Marcus had died.
He knew there was nothing he could really say but he wanted her to know he was there for her.
As she frowned, he just talked to her, trying to cheer her up as best he could.
He just wanted to help her through this.
Hannah left for work, still sad, but feeling comforted.
Meanwhile, Dina called Don and asked him on a date. “A date?” He scoffed. “Don doesn’t do dates.” He hung up.
He then picked up the phone and called the woman from the plane wreck for some woohoo.
She was more than keen.
They woohoo’d again.
And again.
And two more times until she left before Hannah arrived home.
When Hannah got home, she was still feeling sad about Marcus. Too sad to eat.
She snuggled Buttercup to try to make herself feel better.
But her heart still hurt. With Don asleep, she had no one to talk to.
Just then, the doorbell rang. It was Travis coming to check on her.
He asked her how she was feeling.
She thought to herself how wonderful it is to have him as a best friend. He always knew just how to make her smile.
She took his hands in hers and said, “Travis, thank you for being my best friend. I don’t know what I would do without you in my life.” He looked at her lovingly.
Just then, Buttercup barked. Buttercup was trying to cheer them on but Hannah didn’t realize.
Instead, she said goodnight to Travis. “I’ll see you tomorrow night at the rehearsal dinner!”
Where’s a spaceship when you need it? Travis thought to himself.
