Season 5, Episode 8, Chapter 69

He was the first one to get to science class. He was so proud to be so early!
Everyone else arrived and they all avoided sitting with him.
“Hey! Wanna be my lab partner?” He said as a famous teenage classmate walked by.
She stuck up her nose and sighed.
Without a word, she turned and walked away.
Oooo, guess not, he thought.
As the bell rang, Nicolas called asking Jarrett out on a date. He still wasn’t quite sure about everything but he figured, why not!
When he arrived, Nicolas looked quite different in the daylight.
He tried to hold his hand but grabbed his wrist instead.
“So…how was your first day at Sunnycreek?” Nicolas said.
“Oh awesome…totally awesome. Yeah,” Jarrett said.
“This girl stuck her arm through the lockers, because the school is super haunted.”
Nicolas grimaced. “Haunted?” He said. Was Jarrett crazy?
“Yeah…” Jarrett said.
“You’re so cute,” Nicolas said, trying to forget the weird conversation, as he pulled Jarrett in for a kiss. Jarrett didn’t quite know what to do.
“Have you ever thought about playing soccer!?!“ Nicolas said enthusiastically.
“Uh…well…I hit my brother in the head with a soccer ball once. I haven’t really played since,” Jarrett said.
“Oh…snap. That sounds bad.”
“Did you kick it way up high?”
“Into the sky?!”
“Yeah! I did do that!”
“Yeah that’s too high, man,” said Nicolas as he seemed to lose interest and pulled out a cube to play with. Jarrett was bored too. Is there a TV around here? He thought.
He pulled out his phone to take a picture.
“Gotta snap these soccer muscles, right Nicolas?” He said trying to get his interest. “Oh yeah… sure,” Nicolas said. “Look, I gotta take off. This was — “
Nicolas left before he even finished his sentence. And just like that, Jarrett was left standing there alone.
Well… that was weird, he thought.
At the park in Henford-on-Bagley, Caiden met up with Leila to play.
They greeted each other with a big friendly hug.
Leila was so happy to see her best friend.
They ran to the swings together as the sun began to set.
When they sat down to do their homework, Leila finished hers quickly. Caiden, however, decided to start talking about robots.
“Maybe you should focus on your homework right now, Caiden. It’s getting dark out.”
Caiden put his head on his homework. “Don’t be such a mom, Leila,” he said frustrated.
He closed up his homework. “This stuff is stupid anyways.”
Leila frowned. She was disappointed he didn’t take school seriously.
“You’re so smart Caiden!! You just need to do your homework!” She said frustrated.
In a huff, she got up and left.
Caiden was sad. He didn’t mean to hurt her feelings by calling her “mom.”
He sat there wondering if Leila would still want to be his friend.
As he got up to leave, Summer arrived at the park.
