The Valedictorian
He stared out into the audience, nervously waiting for everyone to sit down.
“I should’ve been valedictorian instead of him!” a random classmate thought while glaring at him. “Wasn’t he supposed to graduate weeks ago?!”
“I’ve learned a lot in my teen years. Who wouldn’t when you’ve lived far more days as a teenager than you ever expected, right?”
“But most importantly, I’ve learned that life isn’t always what you expect it to be.”
In De Sol Valley, Leila sat on the balcony of her apartment.
She wandered inside and sat on her bed in her fanciest outfit possible. “I hope no one ever finds out I flunked out of college.”
“When I saw my future, I saw myself rich. Living on top of the world.”
“I imagined the girl I loved on my arm. The two of us, as a power couple, bringing our dreams to life.”
“But then she dumped me and well — that plan changed.”
“Thank god!” Hannah yelled out. “You deserve better!”
“Mom…please,” Casey said embarrassed.
“There was a time in my life I wanted to be better than everybody else. But I never could be.”
“I remember when all he wanted was crab pancakes,” Hannah cringed. “Yeah. Thank goodness we all settled on french toast instead, right?” Caiden chimed in. “This speech is headed straight for the trash,” the principal added.
“Hey! That’s my son you’re talking about. He worked hard on this speech!”
“Do you know why I never could be better? Jealously. Incompetence. Insecurity.”
“It’s impossible to be the best sim you can be when you’re always trying to one up someone else or be someone else.”
Chloe looked at herself in the mirror.
“Mirror mirror, on the wall. Who’s going to make that Jamie lose it all?”
“Oh. That’s right. Me.”
“What I’ve realized now that I’m a young adult… and it took me a long time to get here…is you can’t be better than someone else. Because there is no comparison to you.”
“That’s my boy!” Hannah jumped up in the air cheering for him.
“So do what you love. Reach for your dreams and your desires.”
Jarrett gazed at Tomi and Cheesy as they played.
“How could I have ever missed this?”
He ran outside to his newly purchased food stand.
It was time to begin his new venture, My Balls Are Your Balls.
“Because at the end of the day, money can’t buy happiness…and you can’t be the best version of someone else. You can only be the best version of you.”
“And that’s worth more in this world than anything money could ever buy.”
As Casey finished his speech, Travitha sat at home alone watching TV.
When suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Travitha got up to answer the door but found Chloe already standing inside. “Chloe? Why are you here?”
“Oh darling…I think it’s time you and I have that little chat about what happened to your Mommy.” ⏩️ What will happen next season?
