Back at the Scott house, the family prepared for Harvestfest. Now that two of their kids were married, they realized they needed more space for the guests.
As Travis prepared the turkey, Annabelle walked up beside him. “I hope you’re using only organic ingredients, Dad.”
“This spice mix doesn’t look like it came from the grocery stand,” she said as the turkey splattered at Travis.
“It’s the same one I always use, honey,” Travis said.
“Okay…but it’s important you support local businesses like the Crumplebottom’s grocery stand. Please tell me you at least made tofurkey and not turkey? I’m thinking of going vegetarian!”
Travis stared in shock. But our meatball, cheesy eyeball, and turkey tradition! he thought.
“Listen to this. Compostable materials include leftover food, dishes, and -” Annabelle rambled on.
“Annabelle, could you just give me a moment?” Travis said clutching his back.
He grabbed an extra seasoning container. “Your mom needs this turkey to come out perfectly!”
“And now I don’t remember which seasoning I used already,” he frowned.
As he stood up trying to remember, Casey walked up behind him. “Hey dad! Nice turkey!”
“Hopefully I didn’t overseason it,” Travis said.
“Oh the seasoning is always the best,” Casey said half listening as he pulled out his phone.
“What?!” he stared at his phone in shock.
“Leila is coming to Harvestfest? Why?”
“Dad? Did you guys invite Leila to join us?” Casey asked.
“You remember we broke up right?” Casey said as Travis grabbed the turkey. “I’m not sure who invited her, son. It may have been an accident.”
“How could you accidentally invite her dad?” Casey exclaimed as Travis looked at Hannah and Annabelle. “Casey. You know how it is. You go through the phone book and select your guests. Sometimes you click on one by accident. It happens.”
Great. Just great, he nervously thought. Well, if I’m going to prove to myself and everyone else that I’ve changed, I guess this is my chance.
As Annabelle headed to the fridge to grab some lunch, she noticed it was Power Conservation Day! “Wonderful! My first petition went through!” she thought proudly.
Unable to cook the rest of Harvestfest at home, Hannah headed to Jarrett and Tomi’s house to prep.
“Jarrett! Your mom should be here any second to help make cheesy eyeballs with you!” Tomi smiled as Jarrett frowned. “I can’t, Tomi. I’m so tired and burnt out from work,” he said.
Hannah came inside and instantly started prepping the food while Jarrett watched. He was sad he didn’t have the energy to help.
“Come on Jarrett! What are you waiting for? Help me make these cheesy eyeballs.”
“After all, you’re the ball master!”
“The ball master! Oh, what a title!” she laughed.
Tomi smiled. “Can I help you with anything, mom?”
Jarrett sat at the table frowning. Work had taken over his life so much that he didn’t even have time for his favorite tradition anymore. Will Jarrett be able to break out of this burnout? Keep following to find out.
As the family prepares for Harvestfest, Hannah heads to Jarrett’s house to help prep dinner.
Did You Know?
I had no idea it was power shut off day, or that initiative was even set up. At first I was really annoyed but then I realized the opportunity that it presented: to get Hannah out of the house to see Jarrett! It’s easy to get caught up in our “vision” during gameplay but learning to go with the flow can really make you appreciate these parts of the game!
I accidentally clicked Leila’s name on the invite list. Whoops!
